S/Y Jennifer in St Petersburg during 5 days, we have been buzy visiting many famous sights. All the houses here are either former palaces once owned by the nobility or sovietstyle grey huge slabs of buildings. Although Peter the great created St Petersburg (former Leningrad) it was the Swedes that built the city in 1600 something, but that is not really mentioned here. We have been at the new Marinsky opera one evening, cocktail at the Swedish General Consulate last night, visited the faboulus summerpalace Peterhof and numerous other sights. Today the Hermitage and the Winter Palace. On the night of June 2 we will pass under the bridges of the city here on the river Neva to Ladoga.
