S/Y Jennifer is in Nya Ålösund, Spitsbergen

S/Y Jennifer in Nya Ålesund, Spitsbergen, supposedly the northernmost permanent settlement in the world. Here was before a coal mine and now there are research stations from many nations; Norway, China, Japan, England, France, Germany and India and 60-200 people live and work here. From here Roald Amundsen started with his balloon Norway 1926 to the North Pole being the first men to visit the pole, although by air. There are many beautiful glaciers around here. Photos show a happy crew, the woman in blue is Signe, our guide with the gun. She will protect us from polar bears. We also visited a walrus colony. We will not be able to access Internet for a week now.
