S/Y Jennifer in Svartisen glacier

S/Y Jennifer has been in Bodö, Norway, a NATO air base (the infamous U2 spy plane started here flying over the former Soviet Union in the 1960’). We had crew change here and then continued to Saltströmmen/Saltstraumen. This narrow channel has the world’s strongest tide; the current can reach 20 knots. We went through in 7 knots of current, quite exiting but also frightening. The water was boiling with large swirls. Now we are moored at the foot of the second largest glacier in Europe, Svartisen. We hiked a few hours up to the glacier, with ice caves and strong running water.Svartisen C o Lars1 Malström1 Svartisen crew
